I put my BMW645CI into Wimbledon Automatics when my gearbox wouldn’t get out of 2nd gear. It needed a total going over. They stripped it down and put it back together and it is like a brand new car. I had spent a lot of money on this car prior to this problem, engine, paintwork, wheels and leather and now it is purring and running like a dream. I took it back to have it checked over all included in the price by the way and there are no problems at all. The guys here are all a friendly and very helpful, explaining everything they had done. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Thank you for a very thorough service.

The gearbox failed on my Chrysler Grand Voyager when I needed a seven seater car to travel to a family funeral. They did not promise they could repair the gearbox in time, however they worked late in the evening and started early the next day and returned the car repaired within 48 hours. Friendly, efficient and nice people to do business with.

Had a problem with erratic gear changes on Hyundai ix20 automatic.
spoke with Delroy on Monday, booked in for Wednesday morning 10.00am. arrived 9.50am, spoke with Ken, left car whilst it was checked over. Car pick up at 11.00am all done, now gear change smooth.

Ken and Delroy were very professional and clear about how they would proceed, investigate the reason for the leak, give me a price, do the work on my Mercedes C class Sport. That is just what they did, could not have asked for more, they showed me where the leak was, told me the parts and labour cost and did the work there and then.

I used these guys on a complete off chance, I was having problems on the A3 and felt like car was losing power. I called them and explained the problem, he said maybe your gearbox but bring it along and I’ll scan it check it safe to drive, I was really worried with the kids in the car, Delroy was great. Scan for any problems then done the same a few days later before advising me on what to do. I felt in really safe hands with him. Very honest and down to earth, these guys are all about safety and not out for what they can get, which is what I’ve had in the past, will defo be using them in the future.

I recently bought a classic Triumph and the auto gearbox was was a bit hit and miss . A couple of hours with Derek and Delroy to make some adjustments and it’s a different car – smooth changes and sound advice. A proper, service – thank you gents.

I took my 2015 Vauxhall Insignia to main dealership for annual service . The garage told me fault codes showed that my gearbox was showing numerous deficiencies and suggested it was not repairable and quoted approximately £6000. to replace. Having used Wim/auto many years ago decided to pay them a visit complete with diagnostic report. Ken read the report and suggested there were too many faults for the gearbox to be working at all. As the car had only done 51000 miles with no record of any oil change it was decided to flush and change the oil, to which I agreed,this was done immediately and I was shown the works done by video. These works were done 3 weeks ago and since then the cars transmission has never been smoother. Please use Ken and his team whenever you have a problem and beware of main dealers. The Tops.

Wimbledon Automatics came highly recommend when the local garage could not do the gearbox work on my Mercedes A class. I dealt with Delroy and could not be happier with the way I was treated. These guys really know their stuff. Plus they are good communicators, have fair and honest pricing, are reliable, trustworthy and honest. I am only sorry that I live so far away and cannot use them regularly. They’re the best garage I’ve dealt with.

I booked in my old 2000 model Mitsubishi Pajero SWB to have a look at the flashing differential  Light and a noise from the undercarriage. The local garage I got it tested gave a report for a faulty gearbox that needed repair or replacement. Since I have known Wimbledon Automatics at their current location for many years. I booked the vehicle there, and was attended by Kenny, he said he will call me back in an hour with a report & sure enough he did, the problem was nothing to do with the gear box but an exhaust bracket had broken, Kenny even cleared the faulty sensor light and charged me only for the initial diagnosis and gave me a report of all the faults it registered in the machine.   I was expecting to scrap the vehicle  to avoid an expensive repair instead this vehicle has been given a new lease of life at least for another few years when the government will scrap it anyway!  Thank you for the transparency and advice . I am in no doubt that I will recommend this garage to friends and family.

After breaking down, had car towed to Wimbledon Automatics where the car was found to have as suspected, a mechatronics unit failure and the trigger for it was fixed also. (common on DSQ200 DSG Gearbox) the job was carried out quickly and I have had no issues with the car since! The team down at Wimbledon Automatics are extremely professional, friendly and are very good at their job. Would definitely recommend.

The gentlemen at Wimbledon Automatics changed the oil and sump/filter on my BMW 335D. They did a fab job and provided me with a video of the work. I like you reading this scoured places and read reviews, and any negative reviews I then thought about. I also google mapped the garage, and to be fair it doesn’t look like much, so you’d think that on that I would say ‘no’ and move onto somewhere a little more swanky… but no. I was chatting to a friend and mentioned my gearbox, she said that a few years ago she had taken her Ford Galaxy there and the guys there had changed the gearbox as they had been recommended by her main dealer. Since then, not a thing has gone wrong, and so, that was all the review that I needed. No i don’t know the people personally at Wimbledon Automatics and no I am not in business with them and so 1000% this is a genuine review. Give them a shout, they are very good at what they do.

I have a Jag XF 2009 automatic and had an issue that the car wouldn’t start at all and I was unable to turn the gear knob. I spoke with Mr. Scott (i hope I got the name right :)) and explained the issue. They first tried to arrange recovery services and as no one was available they came down to my place to have a look at the car and explained to me what the fault was and further guided me on the next steps. I have dealt with few service and repair centers around this area and last one ended up in a nasty review.

I went to repair my gearbox for my car. The service was very quick efficient and the staff very very informative and helpful.

I had lots of issues with a jumping transmission on my Volvo V50 that other garages couldn’t resolve. Within an hour of being with Wimbledon Automatics they had diagnosed the issue. A new valve body later and the car drives like new. Great service, clear pricing structure and a pleasure to deal with. Thank you

Took my merc SLK230 here after another garage had given the gearbox the death sentence. From the very first phone call Delroy and Ken were friendly, courteous and helpful. I took the car in and received a phone call inside half an hour talking me through the diagnosis and options and the work was finished later the same day. The job was a little more demanding than they had predicted but stuck to the quoted price. You don’t get any of the teeth-sucking, patronising attitude which is commonplace in the motor trade here, precisely the opposite. Read the rest of the reviews 🙂

I called Wimbledon Automatics after the gearbox on my C Class Merc started playing up. I had the fear of huge costs and being told it was a new box required. Not so, Derek was incredibly helpful and informative and, using his special kit, advised it was a replacement component rather than the entire box itself. It was left with them and they repaired it like new. It runs so much better than it had done for months. I was kept in touch during the repairs and the costs were as quoted so I knew exactly what to expect. A great service from the team. I would definitely recommend them.

What a fantastic surprise to find such a helpful ,reassuring team at Wimbledon Automatics. I was given their number from another SW garage who were unable to help with my transmission problem on my old faithful Volvo XC70 Cross-country. My 2004 Mercedes SLK 350 (7 speed auto transmission) completely failed without warning. The servicing garage directed me to Wimbledon Automatics where it was towed, the car required a complete transmission rebuild. The car was in good condition otherwise and agreed to go ahead with the rebuild even though the cost was similar to the cars value. After a few days the job was complete, the gearbox working perfectly. The whole experience of dealing with this company was faultless, everything was explained, any issues we had were handled thoughtfully and with consideration, especially with cost. The agreed follow up checks and a 12 month warranty of the gearbox just speaks for itself. Thank you for sorting everything out very quickly and with an excellent result. I can highly recommend Wimbledon Automatics.

I was advise by a couple of people to go here after my car had been to halfords who told me I had a gearbox problem when I arrived I was greeted by Delroy and Ken who to got to work straight away after half an hour they call and said come and get the car as it was not the gearbox ,it was a engine mount .
As a female I did not at anytime feel uncomfortable or was not spoken to as if I would not understand what this guys was explain it was all clear and Delroy even try show me the where the damage part was .

We’ve used and trusted Wimbledon Automatics for over 25 years and they have always been able to provide an honest and reliable service, whether it’s giving us advice when we’ve popped in or called, to carrying out repairs on the various cars we’ve had in that time, sometimes at very short notice (on one occasion two days before a trip into France and our power steering failed. My Disco had a major problem with the ATF pipe coming off and emptying out. I was trading at a Country Fair and pulling a display trailer that I needed to get back to Suffolk on the Tuesday.
I spoke to Delroy on the Saturday and he gave me some great advice and was very helpful.
I arranged recovery to take the car to him on the Tuesday morning as the Monday was a Bank Holiday. As soon as I arrived, they got to work and fixed the pipe and refilled the ATF.
The problem was sorted in quick time and I managed to get home.

I contacted Wimbledon Automatics re diagnosing my Passat DSG gearbox issue of vibration on the change up. Derek asked me to bring it down so he could road test the vehicle for an assessment. After a drive around he came to the conclusion it was one of two things, the clutch pack or the mechatronix unit. He was willing to do the job but advised the cost would exceed the value of the vehicle so didn’t make economic sense. It’s refreshing to be given an honest opinion as opposed to just taking my money so I have to give kudos to Wimbledon Automatics for that. Rest assured I will deal with them if I have auto gearbox issues in future.

I just had the Auto gearbox on my Renault Espace fixed by Wimbledon Automatics and all appears to be working fine now and the cost was acceptable. Nice people to do business with; polite, well informed and good customer service. Happy to recommend at this stage based on my experience – I will provide an update in due course once I have used the car for a while.

I was then recommended by a friend to this company and asked to speak to a Mr Delroy one of the professional Gear box specialist . Having been told to either scrap my wonderful Crysler Grand Voyager, or replace the gearbox with a new one costing a minimum of £5,000 plus labour through a main dealer, I decided to take the car to Wimbledon Automatics, based on their reviews. I can honestly say this was the best experience I have ever had at a garage in London. Ken and Derek were a pleasure to deal with, and the car now drives like new! They immediately diagnosed the fault and replaced all the gearbox components, even my leaking radiator at a fraction of the cost and within record time. Ken explained everything in great detail, insisted I test drive the car upon collection, and gave me a year’s warrantee including a free check up after a few weeks. Couldn’t recommend Wimbledon Automatics highly enough and extremely grateful!

After reading various reviews I decided to take my car to Wimbledon Automatics. My car has an unusual problem and as it is a relatively new gearbox (BMW 8 speed auto) I suggested, and it was agreed that we go for a torque converter rebuild. I took my car in on Tuesday and had it back on Thursday, a very impressive quick turnaround, other garages were asking 5 days for this work.
Unfortunately the rebuild of the torque converter did not solve the problem but Ken and the team are doing their best to help find a solution which will include talking to the manufacturer ZF.
I would highly recommend Wimbledon Automatics, as others have said in the if you want excellent workmanship and people you can trust, then look no further. True gentleman that always put the customer first.

My 34 year old Scimitar with a Ford A4LD Granada box became stranded with total loss of drive on a journey up North just over 4 years ago. It was transported to a local Scimitar specialist and the gearbox had a total overhaul. Unfortunately, over the next few years, lots of problems developed and after a while, it became clear the box must have been overhauled on a Friday afternoon after a session down the pub … so many problems ensued, too many to list, which eventually led to near total loss of drive, and the need for another complete overhaul. The guys at Wimbledon Autos have done a superb job, with everything now working as it should and not the slightest hint of any problems. And they don’t just overhaul the box and wave goodbye. After a week they had it back for a routine initial check, and after 6 and 12 months they want to see it again, for checks, fluid change etc. They really do a fantastic job. Highly recommended.

Fantastic honest garage… I had a new dual mass flywheel and clutch kit fitted to our audi a3 s line… now drives beautiful…. thanks to delroy for all the help in sorting it out quickly… It was pricey but I would say if you want cheap don’t buy an automatic type car….. this sort of work is not cheap anywhere but at least you know at Wimbledon its completed to a top standard… thanks guy’s.

On 22nd July I took my Audi A3 for Auto Gear Box Oil change and new Auto filter. I met Derek and Delroy, who gave me a pleasing welcome and explained the cost. I am a first time driver (very late in life!) with a 2nd hand mini and a problem with the gear box. Having only literally just had the breaks done I was very wary about who to go to to get the issue fixed. The minute we spoke to Delroy, we were impressed with his level of customer service, reassurance and honest appraisal. A very professional and knowledgeable company there technicians are on top of there game with auto gearbox diagnosis and repair. They take time to investigate the problem and inform you of there findings costs are kept to a minimum as they only complete the repairs needed unlike some other garages who just want to charge as much as possible for repairs that are not always required.

I thought that my 14 year old Volkswagen Lupo was a write off, as I had a warning light coming on and off for two years which I could not get fixed, in spite of taking it to three different garages, and having two replacement manifold sensor lights fitted. When the gears started banging and rattling I thought that was the end. After two hours with Wimbledon Automatics the problem was fixed, no warning light and smooth gear changes. Hi, This is the first time I have done a review but I felt it really helped me in choosing this garage and helped me feel a at ease choosing some where to take my car , this was my first automatic car in my 28 years of driving so all new ground for me but this garage explained and showed me in detail what was happening to my car and dealt with me quickly and very professionally with out all the jargon …. and half the price that I had been quoted else were and better still they dealt with warranty’s which most of the bill was covered , I can’t express just how happy I was that I found this small but professional garage . A very honest, upfront and responsive company. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, leaving us feeling you could trust what they say and they’d do a good job. We took our Astra automatic in after it became stuck in 4th. Vauxhall had failed to diagnose the cause, saying only that it needed a new gearbox, but Wimbledon Automatics could tell us why it had happened (radiator leaking into the gearbox, seemingly a design fault with the Astra judging by the many online complaints), how much it would all cost to fix and their opinion on whether it was worth doing the work. We didn’t proceed because of the age of the car but if we ever have gearbox trouble in the future we’ll go straight to them. A genuinely first rate experience.

I was recommended to Wimbledon Automatics by another garage (!) who couldn’t help me and experienced brilliant customer service from the start. They diagnosed the expected problem, major and fairly expensive, and they instilled such confidence I quickly booked to have the work done. Everyone at WA, and Delroy in particular, was helpful, knowledgeable and efficient, and took the time to explain everything to me without making me feel stupid. Their estimate was accurate and the work completed ahead of schedule. Altogether a very pleasant experience and one which I would happily recommend! Thanks for everything.
